02 URBAN INTERVENTION

RIBA PART 1 FINAL YEAR PROJECT

This project presents an inclusive and sustainable urban design strategy for the edge of Canterbury’s city centre. It reimagines three underutilized sites, connected through a network of sustainable transport routes aimed at shifting the city’s reliance away from private vehicles.

Each site plays a distinct role in supporting a more livable and resilient urban fabric. The proposal includes a mix of residential housing to accommodate a growing population, alongside public and cultural spaces—such as a community museum showcasing local artefacts. Thoughtfully designed green and landscaped areas further extend the city’s ecological corridors, enhancing biodiversity and providing accessible outdoor space for all residents.
